you have questions, we have answers

What is aerial yoga and can I do it?

Aerial Yoga or Anti-Gravity Yoga is Yoga poses practised as you're suspended in a hammock. Poses can incorporate the floor and the mat, or purely in the air.

If you're new to aerial or haven't attended our studio before, we recommend you try our Aerial Basic (beginner) classes first, to get familiar with the hammock and practice. You can find more information about our various classes/levels here.

What are the benefits of aerial yoga?

There are a lot of benefits that can come from a regular aerial yoga practice, and one of the most important is it's capacity to relieve compression on the spine.

Through its suspended poses, weight is taken off the legs and spine giving the whole length of the back freedom to stretch and recover.

Other benefits include challenging your central nervous system and mental capacity, build strength, encourages flexibility and it's beginner friendly!

What time should I arrive?

We recommend arriving 5-10 minutes before your class start time, especially if it's your first time to our studio. This gives you enough time to check in, talk to your instructor, adjust your hammock and settle in. Late entries (after 5 mins) will not be permitted - please see below.

What if I arrive late?

Please arrive early to avoid disrupting the teacher and other students, especially if it's your first time to our studio. Studio doors will usually be open 5-10 minutes before class begins. The studio door will be locked shortly after the class begins & no entry is permitted 5 minutes after the class-start time - sorry!

When entering a class, you are committing to stay for the full duration of the class - leaving early is not permitted unless in an emergency.

Do you have shower facilities?

Unfortunately, we don't have showering facilities.
We have a small changing space inside the studio and there are public toilets nearby in the same building.

Can I bring my child/teen to class?

Whilst we love little ones, our group aerial classes are for adults only (18+) and an opportunity to take some time out for yourself, childfree.

If there is some unforeseen situation requiring you to bring your child to the studio, you must ensure they remain quietly in the reception area whilst classes are in session. Children are not allowed to enter the studio teaching space and they must not use or play with the aerial hammocks or other studio equipment at any time. Thank you for your understanding!

The studio may run special family/kids/teens classes from time to time during school term breaks - please keep an eye on our social media pages & timetable for announcements about special kids aerial workshops.

Do you offer refunds or transfers?

All purchases are final & non-transferable. Unfortunately we do not offer any refunds, exchanges, transfers or extensions on class packs or memberships once purchased - please take care to review and consider the expiration period of class packs/memberships prior to your purchase! Packs and memberships cannot be shared. Please also note our cancellation policy for further info regarding class booking cancellations.

I'm new to yoga, can I practice at Studio Arise?

Yes, of course! We cater to all sorts of levels of experience at Studio Arise across our Mat Yoga or Aerial Yoga classes. If you're new to aerial or our studio, we recommend you try our Aerial Basic (beginner) classes first, to get familiar with the hammock and practice. Our mat yoga classes are open-level (open to all levels) and newcomers are definitely welcome! You can find more information about our various classes/levels here

Do I need to bring anything?

Not a thing, just a willing attitude! However, if you would like to practice with your own Yoga Mat, please bring one along. We also have mats to hire. Please see our dress code policy below for aerial (top with sleeves) & reformer pilates classes (grip socks required).

What should I wear to class?

For all our aerial classes, you must wear a top with sleeves (short or long) to cover your underarms, and no zippers on tops or pants. Please remove all jewellery (e.g. rings, bracelets, necklaces, sharp earrings, watches) and heavy makeup before class to prevent damaging the hammocks.

For reformer pilates, please BYO and wear grip socks (non-slip) during class.

Where is the studio? Is there any parking nearby?

The studio is a little hidden from street view! We are on Level 1 - go up the stairs & turn left - of the Spring St Shopping Centre (opposite Westfield) at 3-9 Spring Street, Chatswood.

The studio is about 7-10 mins walk from Chatswood train/metro/bus interchange. Parking is available in nearby shopping centre carparks including Westfield, Chatswood Chase, Mandarin Centre & The Concourse. Please be aware that Chatswood is often very busy during peak shopping hours, especially on weekends, so allow for some parking time so you can arrive on time for class.

You can find a google maps link & photos/video of how to find us at the bottom of our webpage here

How do I get the booking App?

Please find us on the MINDBODY APP - install & search for "Studio Arise". We recommend using the App to view our most up-to-date class timetable (including any last-minute changes), pricing options, and to manage your class bookings and membership packs.

What if I need to cancel my class booking?

If you need to cancel or reschedule your booking, this must be done online (using your MINDBODY account or via the App) at least 12 HOURS prior to your class start time. Workshops & Special Events (e.g. Floating Gong Bath, Full Moon Women's Circle, Aerial Dance Workshop Series) require at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel/reschedule. Private Sessions require 48 hours notice.

No shows or late cancellations will be charged and the class will be deducted from your class pack/membership. We understand that sometimes unforeseeable circumstances can arise, but as our class numbers are very limited and there is often a waitlist, we have to be fair and consistent with all students, therefore no exceptions will be made.

If any all-inclusive member has 3 or more no show/late cancellations within a 2-week period, we reserve the right to suspend their membership pass for 7 days (any reservations in those 7 days will be manually cancelled). Thanks for your understanding & cooperation.

For Reformer Pilates: If only 1 student is booked into a 2:1 semi-private class, Studio Arise reserves the right to cancel the class and your booking credit will be returned to your account. Alternatively, if you want to keep the booking and go ahead as the only student in the class, we will charge your booking as a private 1:1 class instead of 2:1 (unless the other student in the original 2:1 booking was a late cancellation or no-show). The early cancellation window for Reformer Pilates is 12 HOURS before class start time.
